Marinette on FIRE!

So this week we had some pretty cool experiences! On Monday it snowed/rained and then it all froze. So there was ice on EVERYTHING all week! It was pretty slippery to walk around all the time, but it made things really fun! But one of the pictures will show you how the ice was literally on everything. It was really cold, but then it ended up getting really warm later in the week. I think it was Saturday that was like 45 degrees all day and the sun was shining and wow! That felt amazing, but then that night we went to a members for dinner and they said we weren't even half way through winter..... so we will see how long it lasts for!

We woke up Thursday morning and when we left the apartment there was a huge thing of smoke coming right from the area we were going to tract... So we drove the way to where we were going and came up right next to the fire, it was an old mill that had started on fire and is now totally gone... so it was a pretty bad fire. But I got a couple decent pictures of the smoke and flame. So that was interesting, but it was cool!

We also had exchanges this week, and I was with Elder Berrett who is in the Green Bay Hmong area, and it was a really fun exchange. So there's a picture of us. But other than that this was a pretty normal week, we had a blast.

Something I learned in my studies this week more than I ever have noticed before is that we can get an answer to our questions from the Book of Mormon no matter what your question is about. I promise you that as you read and pray that you can get an answer to anything! TEST IT! It means so much. I hope you all have a great week!

Lots of knockin' doors

Well this week was super fun! We finally have started to find people who are willing to hear the message. But it took some effort. We did like 7 or more hours of tracting on Friday, and then about 2 or 3 hours everyday like normal. It was crazy. But we for sure have seen some success come from it! The branch also has asked us to set up Family Mission Plans for a lot of the active families! So we have the opportunity to get to know some of the members even more than I have had the chance to before. It is super cool to see how much the members want the branch to grow and what they are willing to do for it. So the work is going to start picking up here! There wasn't much when we got here, but we are striving to make it happen! But cool experience happened. We had been knocking doors a lot since we got here and not seeing a whole lot of success, but I think I was praying harder than I ever have before. And then on Wednesday we were knocking and there were just a ton of people who invited us back! It was really small, but it was a miracle for me. God WILL answer your prayers. It might not be in the most miraculous way, but you will be able to see it if you are looking! Nothing is better then having a knowledge that there is a loving God that cares about you more than you can imagine.

So this week we also got a new prophet! So that was really exciting! We were able to watch the announcement of it while we were emailing last week, but I love the simplicity of how it is decided. There is no running for prophet, there is no one, or anything but God that can choose His next Prophet. President Nelson is an amazing man and I am excited for General Conference to get our 2 new apostles as well! Exciting times.

We are supposed to get a ton of snow today and tomorrow so I am pretty pumped for that! It has been a really warm winter according to the members, but I disagree a little. Although the last few days have been really warm. It is cool because when it is warmer there is more chance for snow, so we are going to get hit pretty hard is what they tell us. Hopefully it isn't too bad!

I hope you all have a great week!

Sorry I'm a day late.....(Martin Luther King holiday)

So we had P-Day yesterday, but President Williams asked us not to email yesterday... So that was weird. But we are here today! So it has been a super good week! We woke up yesterday to about 3 or  4 more inches of snow! Earlier in the week it had rained and been really warm, but that ended pretty quick. Back to the snow and cold weather! It has been fun though! One of the days after it rained it got really cold so the roads were all super icy and there was a lot of ice just everywhere. So that was pretty fun to walk around on! But we are safe, so no worries.

Yesterday we went to the lighthouse in the middle of the snow storm, which probably wasn't the smartest thing to do, but it was fun! There is a lot of history in the little towns here, but not a lot of other stuff to do. They are a lot more relaxed P-days here than in Green Bay because we are the only missionaries around, there is no one else to play sports with or anything like that. So we hang out by ourselves and it was pretty fun yesterday!

I gave a talk in Sacrament meeting again on Sunday. It was based on the talk Elder Renlund gave in Priesthood session of this last conference. Basically he talks about how the Priesthood is the rocket that delivers "the payload", or the atonement of Jesus Christ! It is a really good talk for everyone to read! But it is awesome that we have the power to bring people closer to Jesus Christ than anyone else. We have the Priesthood and it can help us make covenants! It is awesome!

I hope you all have a great week! Love all of you!

Marinette Week 1

Well the first week in the new area was pretty good! There is a ton of work we have been doing to figure out what was happening here before it got closed, and there wasn't much! So we have been doing a lot of finding new investigators and working on getting people to church! There is quite a few members here. I think we had about 50 people at church yesterday so it wasn't too bad! The chapel is like a normal chapel but like not even half as big. It only has the middle pews, so it is pretty cool! So fast and testimony meeting yesterday was pretty good! And then we taught Gospel Principle on the spur of the moment, so that was super fun! Haha there wasn't a teacher and we didn't know that so we just kinda did it. It went better than I expected it to, luckily the people in the class are very talkative so it took up the time that we needed it to. But basically this week has been doing a ton of knocking doors so we have met some interesting people! Also a lot of the work is done in Michigan! So that is super weird to say that I am in Michigan right now at the church! It is cool though.

Yesterday we were given a ton of cookies from this super nice lady that we found in the old teaching records, so that was funny. She gave us more than what is in the bag, we had already eaten some when we took the picture... oops. But the branch is also super nice, and they all want to help us in anyway they can, and they really want to become a ward so that is what their focus is on! The branch president doesn't really think  that having the title of ward is so important, but he wants the people that are already members to get back to church, and that would make it a ward. So we are excited to help the members out!

I hope you all have a great week, keep working hard and building your testimony! There is nothing that can do it more than the study of the Book of Mormon. Do it daily! It WILL bless your life!

HAPPY NEW YEAR! (Transferring to the Marinette Branch)

Sorry I didn't email last week, Christmas was crazy! We had a ton of fun. We were at members houses for a lot of the day! The members of the ward are super cool, and loved having us over! It is weird now to know that I am leaving the area. It is super weird because both me and Elder Record are going to the same area together and it is in the same zone. So I am staying pretty close to Green Bay, it is about an hour drive north right on the border of Wisconsin and Michigan! So I will actually be doing some work in Michigan! I am pretty sad to be leaving the Green Bay 1st ward, but also super excited to see what lies ahead. The area I am serving in won't be a ward, but its a larger branch. So it will be pretty interesting.

This week was crazy, and we saw a lot of really cool miracles. The big one is that we actually had 5 investigators at church on Sunday! It was super cool! There is a lot of work going on here, and it kinda sucks to be leaving! But it will be cool! I think that no matter where you are the missionary work will continue. We are opening the area back up! It closed last transfer and there hasn't been any missionaries there for a while so we are hoping that we will have some good work to be done! It is exciting but also really nerve racking.

Well I hope you all had a Merry Christmas, and a happy new year! The work will continue, I am working on getting my new address to send to everyone, but I will still be able to get the mail if it goes to my old apartment! Hope you all have a great week!
